In addition to the above, there are minimum qualifications that must be met which will be listed on the exam announcement, and candidates who pass the written exam will be required to pass medical and physical agility standards set by the Municipal Police Training Council in order to achieve a permanent appointment as a Police Officer. Westchester County holds the civil service examination for Police Officer and Police Officer (Spanish Speaking) to fill vacancies for positions in the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Services and the police departments of the Cities of Peekskill and Rye and the towns and villages in Westchester County every three to four years. The next scheduled exam will be held on November 15, 2008 and the last date to file for the exam will be September 22, 2008 .
