Release Date: September 29, 2014

GREAT NEWS FOR SHOPPERS...SAKS 5th AVE OUTLET COMING TO GREENBURGH! Saks 5th Ave outlet has taken out a demolition permit and will be taking over the vacant space at the former Loehmann's department store on Route 119 (near the Apple Farm, Smashburger's and the bowling). The town has been working hard trying to attract quality new businesses to Greenburgh. Saks 5th Avenue is a great business to have in town.  We're going to work hard to replace other vacancies with terrific new tenants.

WHAT'S HAPPENING TO BEN'S DELI? Ben's Deli is coming to Central Avenue. According to the Building Inspector "interior work is being done". Hopefully - the deli will open soon!

NEW YORK STATE PARKS DEPARTMENT ENDORSES TOWN BOARD PROPOSAL TO ACCEPT ONE MILLION DOLLAR DONATION FOR 28.7 ACRES OF MORE PARKLAND

TOWN BOARD TO VOTE TUESDAY NIGHT AFTER 8 PM

The Greenburgh Town Board will vote on the proposal to accept a one million dollar donation for 28.7 acres of more parkland near the Taxter Ridge Park on Tuesday night. The public is invited to comment before the vote --which will take place after 8 PM at Town Hall.  I received the following e mail from Linda Cooper, Regional Director of the the NY State office of Parks late this afternoon endorsing the acceptance of the donation so the town can acquire the property.  The park, if acquired, will not be an addition to Taxter Ridge. It will be a separate park maintained by the village of Tarrytown. It is next to Taxter Ridge.

Linda Cooper, Regional Director New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation

"I am writing to express the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation's support for the addition 28.7 acres to Taxter Ridge Park as part of the subdivision by the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World  Christianity and through the acquisition of this property by the  Town of Greenburgh and the East Irvington Civic Association and utilizing  funds set aside for open space  from the Avalon Bay development.  The additional open space in this highly developed corridor will be an asset to residents in and visitors to the vicinity.  It is my understanding after speaking with  the Village of Tarrytown officials the village will accept the additional park lands and maintain them. It is also my understanding after speaking with the Planning Department in Greenburgh that  the town is desirous of this parkland acquisition.   The state is a partner in the original Taxter Ridge Park creation and sees no adverse impact from the proposed addition to the park."
