The Greenburgh Town Board recently met with representatives of SONIC, a national chain of drive in restaurants that has over 3500 restaurants around the nation. They want to open a drive in Sonic restaurant at the site of the former Greenburgh Neighborhood Health Center located on Route 119. The Health Center closed when they moved to their new building on Knollwood Road. The building has been vacant ever since.
Customers park in their drive in stalls, each with its own menu board and place their order which is delivered to their cars by skating carhops (they provide safety training for carhops). All the orders are packaged to go but customers are welcome to stay and eat in their cars or on site. The menu is broad—burgers, hotdogs, chicken, cheessteaks, fries, over a million drink combinations, burritos, etc…
This will require a zoning change. The current building (old Health Center) will be demolished. Some possible advantages: Can help generate more business for stores along the Route 119 corridor and reduce vacancies...walking distance from the Theodore Young Community Center and Manhattan...more attractive landscaping (the existing building will be demolished. Town will have a say in landscaping....additional jobs for youth (the TDYCC has a skating program so their skaters will be trained!)...a fun place to eat.

AN UPDATE ABOUT TOWN WIDE REASSESSMENT FROM THE TOWN ASSESSOR
As you are aware, the Town of Greenburgh is in the process of conducting a town wide reassessment for the first time since 1956. We are reaching out to you, to ensure a proper valuation of your residence, it is necessary that data collectors measure the exterior of each house, and perform a brief interior inspection. It is ultimately
your responsibility to ensure that the new assessment allocated to your property is accurate as well as fair. Your participation in this process while not mandatory is key to the success of your property’s valuation as well as the entire project.
I urge you to call Tyler Technologies and make an appointment (if you have not already done so) with them as soon as possible, so that they may properly inspect your home and derive the correct market value. For your convenience, you may arrange for afterhours or Saturday inspection times to accommodate your schedule. If you have had your property inspected already, thank you for your participation.
