PROGRAM TO AIR FROM 10 AM TO 11 AM ON WWW.WVOX.COM OR 1460 AM
QUESTIONS? COMMENTS  CALL 914 636 0110
On Friday, November 20th my WVOX radio program will feature a discussion of the future of the  Elmsford Animal shelter. This no kill shelter, built on property donated to the shelter for $10 (which was taken over by Pet's Alive -a Middletown based organization), was shut down by Pets Alive on September 15,2015.  Pets Alive indicated that structural problems at the site and financial issues caused them to make the decision to close their operations. They have issued a request for proposals to other shelters to take over the property and to use the property as an animal shelter again. They are currently reviewing applications but no decisions have been announced.

On Friday I will devote the entire hour of my program (which airs on 1460 AM or www.wvox.com from 10 AM to 11 AM) to the shelter. I have invited Pets Alive to designate a representative to talk about the future of the shelter or to prepare a written statement that can be read on the air. John Lucido, the Greenburgh Building Inspector, will discuss structural issues at the shelter and what improvemenets need to be mad. He will be interviewed  at the beginning of the program (between 10 and 10:15 AM.  Julie Potter and Leslie Zee of Paws Crossed, will share thoughts about the shelter from the standpoint of former employees, volunteers and animal rights activists.  Donna Troiani was an employee of Pets alive Westchester for 2 years--she was adoptions/volunteer coordinator. She will also be interviewed. Kelly Ferguson, a volunteer, will share her experiences dealing with volunteer work at the animal shelter. She has rescued 2 dogs and had previously rescued 2 cats.

Those wishing to call in should do so after 10:20 by calling 914 -636-0110. The program is aired live  on 1460 AM and is streamed on the WVOX website: www.wvox.com for those who live further than the listening range of the WVOX radio station.
