comprehensive plan to include suggestion by Ardsley School Board to advise all school districts
Release Date: August 05, 2016

Reminder--Presentation today before Town Board at our 9:45 AM work session: Assisted Living application (Frank's nursery site-on Dobbs Ferry Road). Our meetings are streamed live on the town website: www.greenburghny.com and are also archived.

At a recent meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board representatives of the Ardsley School Board suggested that the town encourage school districts to provide the town with input relating to land use applications by advising the school districts of development proposals early in the process. The Town Board is being responsive to this recommendation.  We recognize the importance of our school districts and look forward to a constructive partnership with the schools during land use reviews.

The Town Board will be holding a continuation of the public hearing for the draft Comprehensive at 7:30pm, Thursday August 4th. Updates to the Plan as a result of recent suggestions from the public, a local school district and CAC, include a policy to continue and enhance review coordination of new development proposals and applications with Town Departments and regional agencies; and an update to reflect updated 2015 population estimates.

The Department of Community Development, at the recommendation of the CPSC, now posts all current applications at the following link: http://www.greenburghny.com/Cit-e-Access/formcenter/index.cfm?TID=10&DID=353 as soon as applications are filed with the Town. This policy allows residents to be better informed about projects proposed in the Town. At the recommendation of the Ardsley School District, and to further enhance coordination of development proposals in the Town, the draft plan has now been supplemented with the following language:

“Referring land-use development applications (subdivision, site plan and special permit) to the applicable school district is another policy which would foster coordinative planning. Consistent with current Town policy, land-use development applications are presently referred by the Department of Community Development and Conservation to a variety of departments/agencies, including the Police, Water, Legal, Building and Engineering Departments, as well as the applicable Fire District.”

The Plan has been supplanted with the following goal, objective and policies:

GOAL 8.6: Provide and facilitate adequate community services.

OBJECTIVE 8.6.1: Continue to coordinate the demand for additional community services in connection with new development applications.

POLICY 8.6.1.1: Continue to refer land-use development proposals to the applicable departments and agencies (Police, Water, Legal, Building and Engineering Departments, applicable Fire Districts) upon initial receipt of submission.

POLICY 8.6.1.2: Include the applicable school district in the ini??al distribu??on of subdivision, site plan, special permit and zoning amendment applications/petitions.
