GREENBURGH HAS POTENTIAL TO BE CENTER OF BIOTECHNOLOGY ACTIVITY IN NY STATE
Greenburgh has the potential to be the center of biotechnology activity in New York State. The Landmark at Eastview campus is the headquarters of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. , Regeneron, voted the world's number one Biopharmaceutical Employer in Science Magazine survey and Biotech company of the year by Scrip Intelligence many times has shown that science can change lives for the better. The proposed expansion will generate jobs for our community. The town will generate significant revenue from the development (which will help us in our efforts to continue to comply with the tax cap) and many of the new employees will want to move to the town and shop at local stores which will be great for our commercial areas.
On Tuesday, September 6th at 9:45am the Town Board will hear a presentation during its work session, associated with a site plan application by Loop Road Holdings. The plan includes phased construction of potentially over 1,000,000 sq. ft. of Research and Development (R&D) and related space, which would more than double the square footage of R&D space in this portion of the Town of Greenburgh (Landmark at Eastview Campus) and add to the existing research and development presence in the Town and in neighboring Mount Pleasant. The proposal includes the preservation of over 40 acres of open space, structured underground parking and improvements to local infrastructure. This significant and exciting proposal will provide excellent employment opportunities and is consistent with the Town’s draft Comprehensive Plan.
A site plan (Town Board approval, referral to Planning Board), preliminary subdivision, Planning Board steep slope, wetland/watercourse and tree removal (Town Forestry Officer approval) permit application for a proposal consisting of the development of a research and development campus on a portion of a 100-acre vacant parcel. The applicant proposes the construction of nine (9) buildings, totaling 1,016,190 sq. ft. of research and development and related space, five (5) parking structures, and related improvements. The property consists of approximately 2,613,996 sq. ft. (100.17 acres) and is situated entirely in the Town of Greenburgh on the west side of Saw Mill River Road (NYS Rt. 9A) approximately 300 ft. from the intersection of Old Saw Mill River Road and Grasslands Road (NYS Rt. 100C). The property is located in the PED Planned Economic Development District and is designated on the tax map of the Town of Greenburgh as Parcel ID: 7.71-6-2.
