IRVINGTON TOWN HALL THEATER HAS A GREAT PROGRAM THURSDAY EVENING...PLEASANT SURPRISE S COUNTY TRAIL
Release Date: April 10, 2017

The Irvington Town Hall Theater is one of the most charming theaters. Located at 86 Main Street in charming Irvington---it's a historical building.  The building was built in 1902 and patterned after the Ford Theater in Washington DC. Gleaming white columns and ionic capitals set off the warm ivory interior -432 seats. Victorian chandeliers and sconces were copied from the originals. The theater is listed n the national Register of Historic Places.

THIS THURSDAY APRIL 13 at 7 PM there is an interesting program. The Burning of New York, reading and question and answer with playright Samuel Harps.   Tickets are only $10 The story  is an alleged conspiracy by free blacks and sympathetic whites, resulting in a series of fires that plagued lower Manhattan in 1741.  Thirty eight of the accused conspirators were hanged and burned at the stake on Wall Street after a brief, biased trial.  There will be a Q & A after the reading.  For more info visit: www.irvingtontheater.com

IMPROVEMENTS- A PLEASANT SURPRISE  SOUTH COUNTY TRAIL
In recent years I have been highly critical of the maintenance of the South County Trail. Lots of potholes on the trail, graffiti, debris and dirt all over the path.
Today I bicycled from Elmsford to Ardsley on the path and was very pleasantly surprised. The sections that were pothole ridden last year have been repaved. Almost no debris, garbage on the sides of the path. And the graffiti under the Elmsford bridge has been painted over! I only found one small section (near Ardsley) with graffiti.

It's easy to always complain. But - when government is doing their job and trying compliments are appropriate. I am writing to the Westchester County Commissioner of Parks to say thank you for the significant improvements that were made in recent months. It's obvious that they are trying hard. I haven't cycled to Yonkers and to the Bronx line yet and will provide updates based on my observations.
