Central Ave sidewalk updatean interesting analysis of constitutional convention ballot question
Release Date: October 19, 2017

Received some calls and e mails about the work on West Hartsdale Ave --that has been creating some traffic jams in recent weeks. The work: a Con Ed related gas project. W Hartsdale Ave is a NYS road.

Yesterday received some e mails and calls from residents who wanted a update on the sidewalk we plan to build froom the 4 corners in Hartsdale to Marion Ave. The Commissioner of Planning met last with with the NY State Department of Transportation (Central Ave is a NYS road). ext step is a request for engineer/surveyor qualifications. We are actively finalizing the request for qualifications and will have it on soon.  Hope to have an engineer selected and a contract negotiated early in 2018. A survey work will commence as a first step, sidewalk design as a second step. The best of scenerio's is that there will be a start late next year (NYS Department of Transportation permitting process is slow). We will keep the community updated.  Both the Central Ave and Columbia Ave sidewalks (which I provided info on yesterday) will definitely happen so don't worry!

I have been in touch with state and federal officials about grant opportunities for additional sidewalks and anticipate that there will be another round of grant opportunities to apply for next year.  We will continue to work hard to make Greenburgh a pedestrian friendly community.

Lohud.com has a very interesting analysis about the proposed NYS constitutional convention ballot question which is on the ballot on election day.  Every 20 years NYS voters have the opportunity to vote to create a constitutional convention. The constitutional convention, if approved, would meet and review all aspects of the NYS constitution and make recommendations to the voters.  The link is below.

Paws Crossed, the no kill animal shelter, is seeking additional community support so they could continue to rescuing and overseeing the adoption of pets.
