CRANE'S POND HOLIDAY LIGHTS--TOYS FOR TOTS HAVING DIFFICULT YEAR, DROP OFF TOYS AT TOWN HALL
Release Date: December 17, 2017

Last night, around 10 PM, I drove to Crane's pond in Edgemont, got out of my car and took the attached photo of a Christmas tree and Chanukah menorah at the pond. I then went into my car and posted the photo on my facebook page - mentioning that Chabad is holding a tree lighting ceremony at 4:45 PM on Tuesday at the pond.  They had asked me to publicize the lighting ceremony.  Someone must of looked out of the window and noticed a person walking around the pond. Within minutes a police car with flashing lights was right behind me. I told the officer what I was doing.
The police officer was very  professional. I was very impressed. It's important for residents to call the police whenever they notice suspicious activity. Neighborhood watch initiatives help the police stop crime before they occur. it's reassuring that the response time in my case was also so quick (a few minutes at best).  We have a fantastic police department--with officers watching your neighborhood, trying hard to keep you safe.

TOYS FOR TOT HAVING A DIFFICULT YEAR  -DROP OFF TOYS AT TOWN HALL OR OTHER LOCATIONS
Toys for Tots are having a difficult year. Not as many toys being donated this year. Many residents of the region (not only Greenburgh) have been donating to victims of the hurricane instead of to area children. The town has been participating in all these initiatives. There is a bin at the lobby of Greenburgh Town Hallfor Toys for Tots. Please donate a new toy to a needy child this holiday season. If you can't get to Town Hall I have posted a link to other locations around the county where you can drop off toys.

Received notification that  a group of unscrupulous individuals posing as Toys for Tots Volunteers attempting to pick up collections that people had donated in one location.  Modell's Sporting Goods had their collection stolen y by someone posing as Toys for Tots - Westchester. ?? Toys"R"Us/Babies"R"Us, Toys"R"Us White Plains & Toys"R"Us & Babies"R"Us both had failed thefts. New twist the thieves are calling locations first and making arrangements for pick up's claiming they are from Toys for Tots, they AREN'T!   The Town Hall lobby is a safe place to drop off toys since we have a security guard at the location. We only will turn over the toys to Toys for Tots officials who we know are associated with the charity.  Other participating Toys for Tots locations have been notified that some horrible people want to deprive needy children of toys that could brighten up the holiday season.
