THE GREENBURGH NATIONAL NIGHT OUT ON TUESDAY NIGHT FROM 6 TO 9 PM IS ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST FUN EVENTS OF THE YEAR--FREE BARBEQUE, MUSIC, INFO, FUN ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN

  I attend lots of events each year. But, few are as much fun as the National Night Out at Greenburgh Town Hall that will take place this Tuesday from 6 PM to 9 PM.  It's really a giant outdoor party with free food and fun activities.  Communities all over the country and military bases all over the world celebrate on the same evening but my guess is that Greenburgh does it better than most. Take your children and family to the outdoor party Tuesday.

The Town of Greenburgh Police Department will be hosting its annual Town of Greenburgh National Night Out 2018 event at Greenburgh Town Hall from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday August 7th, 2018. All are encouraged to come to Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Ave White Plains, NY 10603 and participate in this exciting crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out involves over 15,325 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all over 37.1 million people are expected to participate in this year’s National Night Out.

National Night Out is designed to:

Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;

Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;

Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and

Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights on front porches, cities, towns, and neighborhoods celebrate N.N.O. with a variety of events and activities including cookouts, parades, youth programs, as well as larceny and burglary prevention programs. During the event, residents throughout the Town of Greenburgh are asked to turn their porch lights on, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters, and paramedics. N.N.O. is a great crime prevention tool that encourages neighbors to get together. When neighbors know one another they are more likely to recognize and report suspicious people or vehicles to law enforcement. The better people know their neighborhood, the more they can do to keep it safe.
