Board unanimously approves Health Center proposal
Release Date: February 09, 2006

The Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved a resolution granting a special permit to the Greenburgh Health Center (legally known as the Mt Vernon Health Center) to build their new building on Knollwood Road. The health center has provided health care services to the medically underserved residents since 1972.  As a result of an increased number of patients utilizing its services the health center outgrew its existing facility- at 330 Tarrytown Road. The lease they had had also expired. The new site is about 2.6 acres and the building will consist of a 2 and a half story building containing about 34,343 sq feet. A sidewalk will be built from the site to Route 119 (costs will be paid for by the applicant). About 50% of the projected clientele is expected to arrive by public transportation—82% of the trips to the new facility are expected to be made during off peak hours. The facility operates six days a week during normal business hours (until 9 pmtwo days a week and from 9 AMto 12 pmon Saturdays) and does not accept patients after hours.
