I am very pleased that the preliminary budgetthat the Town Boardmay vote on tomorrow evening (Wednesday) includes an additional $20,000 for leaf collection overtime. The leaf collection overtime budgetwill be increased from $56,750 to $76,750. A number of residents have expressed frustration at the piles of leaves around town. This addition to the budgetwill enable us to improve leaf collection next year.
This is only one of a number of suggestions that have been proposed. Among other suggestions that have been made:
1) Hire seasonal employees to help with leaf collection.
2) Pay landscapers to dump leaves at Greenburgh leaf dump –a concept that Scarsdaleuses.
3) Issue an RFP to contractors/landscapers to assist the town with leaf collection during the leaf collection season.
