Greenburgh Public Library to open satellites on January 24
Release Date: December 26, 2006

GREENBURGH LIBRARY TO OPEN TEMPORARY LOCATIONS

The Greenburgh Public Library and the Town Board are pleased to announce the opening of the library’s temporary satellites effective Wednesday, January 24 in order to commence the renovation and expansion project at the library’s current location.

Full library operations will begin at 9 a.m. January 24 at both Town Hall and the Multipurpose Center at Anthony F. Veteran Park.  A substantial portion of the library’s vast collection will be available at both locations as well as on its Cybermobile.  Portions of the library’s Young Adult collection will be housed at the Theodore D. Young Community Center at 32 Manhattan Avenue during the construction period.  In addition, an expanded schedule of Cybermobile stops and hours will bring library service to users throughout the town.

Please note the library will be closed to the public beginning Monday, January 15 in order to pack, move and set up the satellite libraries.

Greenburgh Town Hall is located at 177 Hillside Avenue.  The mini-library facilities there will house books, newspapers and other periodicals, videotapes, DVDs and audiotapes for all age levels.  Computer terminals with Internet access, a reference librarian and a children’s librarian will be available to patrons there as well.

The Multipurpose Center at Anthony F. Veteran Town Park is located at 11 Olympic Lane in Ardsley.  Librarians, computer terminals and a range of materials will be available at this location as well.

As always, the library’s vast array of on-line offerings will be available during construction.  In addition to 24/7 Virtual Reference, Tutor.com and Learning Express, the library just added Rosetta Stone, a program that teaches several foreign languages.  Book return kiosks will be available in many locations throughout Greenburgh for the convenience of our patrons.  Those locations will be announced at a later date.

Throughout opening week, patrons can register for prize drawings including a photograph by Greenburgh’s own Vilma Moody, and gift certificates to Mighty Joe Young’s and the New York Sports Club, among others.

The satellite locations and Cybermobile hours of operation are available on the library’s website at www.greenburghlibrary.org.
