Town Board approves Trader Joe's/Best Buy

The Greenburgh Town Board approved an amended site plan of Hampshire Management to expand the Westchester Sq shopping Center located at 259 Central Ave. The application, first submitted in l995, has been the subject of litigation in the past. Best Buy and Trader Joe's will open stores at the expanded facility. An 8,000 sq foot addition at the south end of the building, adjoining the existing Marshall's retail store will house Trader Joe's. And, there will be a 4,657 sq foot expansion at the north east end of the building. Reconfiguration of the existing parking lot to accommodate these expansions and of North Washington Ave to intersect with Central Park Ave at Harvard Dr and intersection improvements will be made at both the Chatterton Parkway and Dalewood Drive intersections with Central Ave. The applicant will install a radar speed sign along Chatterton Parkway. And, town officials and the police chief will review any unforeseen traffic impacts on North Washington Ave and College Corners to determine if any traffic calming devices or other reasonable and practicable measures are necessary.
