Greenburgh Town Board 9/4/2008 Meeting Resolutions Posted
Release Date: September 02, 2008

On August 25, 2008, bill number A05943 was delivered to Governor Paterson after an 18 month journey through the NYS Assembly and Senate. If the governor signs the bill, all resolutions, laws, etc. that will be discussed by a public body at a public meeting must be made available 72 hours in advance or as soon as practicable thereafter. The Greenburgh Town Board doesn’t need the law to make meeting documents available. Once again, all the resolutions that will be considered at this Thursday’s Town Board meeting have already been posted in their entirety on the Town’s Web site. Not only are the 45 resolutions posted for exceptionally easy access without having to file a FOI (Freedom of Information) request, but 36 documents related to those resolutions have been linked (hyperlinked) to those resolutions and posted as well. It was a long 3-day weekend in front of the computer to get all the resolutions posted with their hyperlinks but I think you will find it was worth it. Please check out the Town’s Web site to learn more about issues under consideration at Thursday’s, September 4, 2008 Town Board meeting and share your comments with us.

The resolutions may be accessed by clicking in the box titled “Upcoming Town Board Resolutions” located on the Town’s homepage, or by clicking “Documents & Forms” on the left side of the homepage, or by simply clicking here, which will take you directly to the “Documents & Forms” page.

Although 45 resolutions is not a record for one meeting, the number of backup reference documents posted for this meeting, 36, is a record. For example, there is a large number of tax certiorari settlements on the agenda. For each of the 15 certiorari resolutions, a spreadsheet of data supporting the settlement as well as a letter from the relevant school district approving the settlement are hyperlinked.  Both can be viewed by clicking the links. Also, the town is considering a contract with a curator for sculptures at DeSantis Plaza near the Hartsdale Train Station. A click shows you the actual contract being considered. Interested in the amazing new Xposure After School Program at the Theodore D. Young Community Center? A click will bring up a flyer on the program and another click will bring you to the Xposure-Greenburgh Web site. Our open government initiatives go far beyond just making a pile of resolutions available 72 hours in advance of the meeting.

As always, should you have any questions or comments, you may email the entire Town Board (Supervisor Paul Feiner, Councilwoman Sonja Brown, Councilwoman Diana Juettner, Councilman Kevin Morgan, and me) by emailing TownBoard@GreenburghNY.com, or by replying to this email and I will forward your response.

Also, if you would like the Town Board to visit your home or area, please let us know that as well. These house calls, to individuals or to a home where neighbors have gathered, have been very informative. Please consider inviting us!
