Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner has introduced a resolution before the Greenburgh Town Board objecting to county cuts in para transit for the disabled. The Town Board will consider the resolution tonight.Feiner said he is very concerned about the impact these cuts will have on the lives of people with disabilities. He is also concerned that this "is a first of many action steps the county will take to cut back services for the disabled." The county recently notified 700 people who had been classified for only conditional use of the specially equipped para transit van rides that they would not have access to the services. Feiner said that this cut could have a devastating impact on the quality of life for the disabled. Many may choose to stay home, not go outside, not work, stop being productive citizens. Para transit enabled people to enjoy their lives. Feiner said that he thinks it is wrong for the county to pick on the disabled. If government has to cut funds for programs -- don't cut out programs that are depended on by the disabled.
