A fire at 300 S Central Ave on Tuesday (Scarsdale Fairway Apartments) in Blding A caused serious damage to about l0 apartments and caused the evacuation of the entire building. When I went to visit with the displaced families (some senior citizens) I learned that at least 2 have inadequate insurance. Over a dozen years ago, when I was a County Legislator, I formed the Have a Heart for the Homeless Committee--which assists families who have been burnt out of their homes.
