EDGEMONT SCHOOL BOARD ANNOUNCES NEW SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT

The Edgemont School Board has announced the appointment of Victoria Kniewel as the new Superintendent of Schools, replacing Nancy Taddiken who will step down at the end of the school year. Good luck and best wishes to both! The town hopes that we will be able to continue to have a great relationship with the school district. We will do what we can to make the new Superintendent feel welcome.

VICTORIA KNIEWEL, EdD, serves as superintendent of schools for the West Windsor-

Plainsboro Regional School District; she assumed this position on September 1, 2007.

She joined WW-P Regional School District in August 2004, as assistant superintendent

for Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Kniewel has a Doctor of Education degree in

Executive Leadership from Fordham University; a master’s degree in Learning

Disabilities from Montclair State University; a master’s degree in Administration, Policy,

and Urban Education from Fordham University; and a bachelor’s degree in Special

Education/Elementary Education from William Paterson University. After teaching for 17

years, Dr. Kniewel served as principal of Orchard Elementary School in the Ridgewood

Public School District, assistant superintendent and principal for the Ho-Ho-Kus Public

School District, and assistant superintendent for Curriculum and Personnel for the North

Salem Central School District North Salem, New York.

In addition to her responsibilities as superintendent, Dr. Kniewel is a member of the

New Jersey Network of Superintendents, Suburban School Superintendents, and Mercer

County Instructional Leaders, and serves on the ETS Superintendents Advisory Council.

Dr. Kniewel has participated in various educational leadership programs: Penn Center

for Education Leadership; The Harvard Institute for School Leadership; Cornell University

Labor Relations; the Tri-State Consortium, Princeton Principals’ Academy, University of

Connecticut School-wide Enrichment Model, and Gallup Teacher Perceiver and

Leadership Identification Model. As a facilitator for America Speaks, Dr. Kniewel led

constituent discussions to rebuild lower Manhattan following September 11, 2001. She

has been a presenter at numerous conferences on the topic of “Leading a Learning

Organization,” including Fordham University Graduate School of Education and

Southern Westchester BOCES Tri-County Leadership Initiative. Dr. Kniewel has served as

a contributing author for Schools That Learn. She has been involved in Leadership for

Collective Intelligence as part of a cohort at Dialogos, focusing on the leadership tools of

dialogue and organizational learning.
