A draft of the WESTHELP lease is posted on the town website: www.greenburghny.com. The Town Board and I are interested in moving forward so that these affordable housing units could be rented out quickly. I have contacted the County Executive’s office, members of the Legislature and suggested that if they going to propose modifications to the lease that they should advise as soon as possible.
Yesterday Rich Harris, the successful bidder, indicated that he has asked Rose Noonan of Westchester Housing Action Council to manage the affordable housing compliance. She has recommended a property management company that has expertise in affordable housing to work to make this a successful affordable housing initiative. A video of the interview the Town Board members had with Rich Harris and the Fairview Fire Chief is posted on the town website.
Former westhelp site currently has 54 parking spaces. Since there will be at least 108 units –the parking has to be increased to 108 spaces. The fire dept is requiring that a road be built to provide access to the buildings and structures to fight fire. This will impact the beautiful campus setting at the current WESTHELP site.
We will ask the county to consider providing the tenant with surplus county property for parking so that the affordable housing campus could be more attractive.
