CROSSROADS SHOPPING CENTER STARTING 1 MILLION DOLLAR RENOVATION--JUST GOT BUILDING PERMIT
Release Date: June 30, 2013

I asked John Lucido, Building Inspector, to provide residents with an update on building department activities. Crossroads shopping center just received a building permit for a façade replacement that will cost them one million dollars. The project will start within the next two weeks. I have been in touch with the landlord. They will be announcing lease agreements for their empty stores shortly.

A suggestion: Creation of an Economic Development Committee made up of citizens with expertise in business development to help attract viable businesses to the community. If you would be interested in serving on such a committee, please advise with some of your qualifications.
PAUL FEINER

The Building Department estimated revenue for 2012 to be $2,000,000 and the actual revenue was $1,900,000. For 2013, the estimate is $2,775,000 and the revenue through May is $1,035, 543, on target with the projection. I can give you the exact amount of revenue through June tomorrow but we are on target to meet the estimate. Many projects are in the design faze after being approved by the Town and we anticipate a number of projects starting in the coming months. Crossroads Shopping Center was just issued a permit this week for a façade replacement that will cost $1,000,000 to construct. That project will begin within the next 2 weeks. The economic picture of the Town is pretty healthy compared to other areas in Westchester. In 2011, for instance, the revenue for construction permits in the Town exceeded $3,000,000 where our estimate was $1, 800,000. That was a great year and if you look at the 2 years since then the Town is still thriving with building projects both residential and commercial. The Building Department is continually working with the Law Department and Police Department to eliminate or bring into compliance undesirable businesses and overcrowded residences.
