ATTENTION: OWNERS WITH BASIC STAR EXEMPTION – Please be advised that all homeowners currently receiving the Basic STAR exemption, must re-register by December 31st, 2013. This fall, you will receive a letter directly from the State regarding this matter. Any questions on this new procedure MUST be directed to the NYS Tax Department (518) 457-2036 and not your local assessor. For more info see attached PDF (STAR registration fact sheet.pdf)
There will be a presentation on October 23rd from 7-9pm (Greenburgh Town Hall) regarding this new STAR procedure. All owners interested are welcome to attend.
This is a new policy required by the state of New York. We, in the town government, will be doing whatever we can to make sure that everyone re-applies for their basic STAR exemption, as required by law. We will be working very hard to spread the word.
