NEW IDEAS FOR OUR PARKS--USING NON TAXPAYER DOLLARS
Release Date: September 21, 2013

The Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation is soliciting requests for proposals (rfp) for architectural and engineering professional services for future development or rehabilitation of various parks and recreation facilities. The parks include Massaro, Veteran, Presser (Web), Travis and Yosemite. There is a link to the RFP below. The due date: October 22.

Funding for these improvements will come from NON taxpayer dollars--developer escrow funds (parkland funds).

Gerry Byrne, Commissioner of Parks talked to me earlier this week about one interesting concept---some of the cabanas at AF Veteran park (far end of the park-near lifeguard station-closer to Multipurpose building) have not been used in years. We are considering demolishing these cabanas and replacing it with a pavilion. Inside the pavilion we could have ping pong tables, shuffleboard, mini golf, etc... The pavilion could also be rented out for birthday parties- providing the town with a source of additional revenue.

What improvements would you like to see at our parks?
