National WalkBiketoSchool day -Greenville Elementary School leads the way!
Release Date: October 09, 2013

Today was national walkbiketo school day. 4,016 schools around the United States participated in the event. Among them: the Greenville Elementary School in Edgemont. Hat’s off to the Edgemont Elementary PTA for doing a terrific job motivating parents and children to participate. I spent 40 minutes  at the school this morning and was amazed at the participation levels. The road leading to the school was full of walkers (parents and children). Most parents did not drive their children to school.  The Greenburgh police was present – helping to make sure that the walkers were safe. And, every child who participated received a sticker saying “Getting to School Healthy, Happy and Green”.  It is my hope that all schools within the town will support this terrific initiative next year. Speaking of walking to school –kudo’s to the village of Ardsley for securing funding to build a new sidewalk on Heatherdell Road near the AF Veteran pool to the Ardsley High School. Construction began this week. The new sidewalk should encourage more students to walk to school.
