Groundbreaking ceremony for Ben's deli--Matt Lauer, formerly of Hartsdale, praises Woodlands teacher
Release Date: October 18, 2013

I attended a groundbreaking on Thursday for Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant & Caterers. Construction has started for the new Central Ave store, which is set to open in early 2014. The restaurant is being built at the former Spiga's restaurant, near the Scarsdale A & P. This restaurant will offer kosher food. The building is 5700 square feet. There will be a second story catering space and full bar.To that end, the 5,700-square-foot space will have a different, more embellished menu than other Ben’s locations — with an extensive list of freshly made daily specials that will appeal to a broader customer base . The Central Ave restaurant will be the seventh incarnation of the renowned 40-year-old establishment, with three locations on Long Island and one each in Manhattan; Queens; and Boca Raton, FL.

WOODLANDS (CENTRAL 7) FORMER SCHOOL TEACHER PRAISED BY FORMER HARTSDALE RESIDENT AND STUDENT MATT LAUER
I attended the dinner reception for the Lois Bronz Children's Center this evening. It was very special. Among the honorees: former Woodlands teacher Mattie Syndor. There was a surprise video. Matt Lauer, former resident of Hartsdale and student of Mattie Syndor participated in the award ceremony/dinner via video. He talked about Mattie and what a terrific teacher she was.

DO YOU KNOW OF ANY OTHER CELEBRITIES WHO GRADUATED CENTRAL 7 SCHOOLS?

Speaking of the Lois Bronz Children''s Center (child care that tries to bring out the genius in every child) - the center was in danger of closing a few years ago because of financial problems. The Board at the center was successful in turning a deficit into a surplus. Congratulations to a terrific Board. The fundraising dinner on Thursday night was a first for them-- and a big success.
