Town Board meeting to honor John Stroud on his 100th birthday this Wednesday night!

The Town of Greenburgh will honor Centurion John Stroud, a life long Greenburgh resident (Grandfather to Shamara and Sanjay Singh and father to Sandra Singh and Shelley Stroud) at the Greenburgh Town Hall on Wednesday, October 23rd @7:30PM. Please join us in hearing his journey through 100 years as a Greenburgh resident. Come see a video presentation of some historical facts about Greenburgh.

 
Did you know that in 1913 White Plains Hospital was a two story house? Do you know where the water came from to build Union Baptist Church? Learn what was served for dinner after a big fire in Greenburgh. The pictures alone will surprise you. Hope to see you there!
 
John Stroud was a district leader in Parkway Homes - late 1950's/early 1960's and 70's
John was President of the Greenburgh Civic Association in the early 1960's, advocating for a better Greenburgh;
John also served as a member of the Greenburgh Zoning Board - helping the town address land use and planning issues;
John Stroud was the first African American president of the White Plains Lion's Club. He also was a Greenburgh Auxiliary policeman;
John successfully pushed for changes that helped children. He initiated the successful implementation of getting the Parkway Homes' school bus to come to the top of hill rather than have children walk so far home from the bus stop - late 1960's;
John Stroud spearheaded the construction of Lawrence Ave between Augustine Rd and North Road allowing for quicker access for the fire department and headed the Young Men's Council at YMCA breaking the color barrier.
 
John Stroud continues to be a community treasure. Our community is a great place to live and work because people like him worked so hard for our community.
