TOWN TO RENT OLD TOWN HALL TO HOUSING AUTHORITY
Release Date: January 05, 2005

I am pleased to report that the members of the Greenburgh Town Board agreed to rent part of the old Town Hall to the Greenburgh Housing Authority for their administrative offices for 8 months starting in February. This will enable the Housing Authority to proceed with their plans to renovate 131 units of housing on Maple Ave.The units are about 45 years old and the Housing Authority received a 3 million dollar grant to proceed with the renovations. The town will receive $1200 a month in rent. We weren’t looking to make a profit – just to cover our costs.  I am very excited about the Housing Authority’s plans to upgrade these housing units. The units, once renovated, will upgrade the quality of life for residents of Maple Ave. The Housing Authority deserves our praise for taking care of its infrastructure –and not allowing older buildings to deteriorate. The Greenburgh Housing Authority has received national attention and praise over the years for the housing they oversee.
