A number of residents have asked –what’s happening on Saw Mill River Road, across from Macy Park? The answer: construction of a 22 unit housing development –17 affordable housing and five as workforce housing, with local first responders such as volunteer firefighters getting priority attention. The current work at the old Waterwheel site consists of clearing of and drainage work. The property , the old Waterwheel, was destroyed by a fire in the 1990s. The town took over the property as a result of foreclosure and sold the property for affordable housing for $1.2 million. Construction of the housing should be finished in the spring of 2015. The village of Ardsley and town are not involved in maintaining the list for affordable housing at this site. The marketing of the 17 units on the former Waterwheel property is being handled by the Westchester County department of Planning. Interested parties may log on to the county’s website: www.westchestergov.com/homeseeker. Though marketing has not commenced yet, those interested in being considered for an apartment could start working on their eligibility. The selection will be determined by lottery—which will be held for all the eligible registered applicants. PAUL FEINER
