BARBER IN TRAINING PROGRAM MOVES TO TOWN HALL THIS SUMMER....JACKSON AVE ROAD WORK ON WED or THUR
Release Date: June 16, 2015

FREE HAIRCUTS THIS SUMMER-- MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY FROM 11:30 AM TO 1:30 PM  GREENBURGH TOWN HALL –OUTDOORS IN THE PATIO AREA BACK OF TOWN HALL

BARBER IN TRAINING PROGRAM IS SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING HARD CORE UNEMPLOYED BACK TO WORK!

Last year Anthony Barton initiated a barber in training program at the Theodore Young Community Center. Anthony has been training unemployed members of our community find work.  As part of his training program, he provides free haircuts to members of the community. Trainees learn barber skills and residents get a free haircut in return.  I was chatting with some of his graduates who now have jobs!

Anthony has had an interesting life. His mom was a cocaine addict. His father a heroin addicted dad. He grew up in an adolescent reception detention center at Riker’s Island and later served time for robbery. He has turned his life around and trains young unemployed people how to become master barbers. And his program is working –graduates are getting jobs.

The program is temporarily relocating to Greenburgh Town Hall (outdoors-patio area in back of Town Hall) because the Theodore Young Community Center is being used this summer for the summer camps and there is inadequate  space at Town Hall.  Please read the story about Anthony and our barber in training program in the Wall Street Journal—link below.
