Earlier today Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a travel ban on local and state roads in NYC and Long Island. Those violating the law could be arrested.

I received some e mails and phone calls from residents who want to know if they will be arrested if they drive on Greenburgh roads. The answer is no.  We have not issued a travel ban on Greenburgh roads. Our highway crews have been out since 3 AM plowing the roads. I spoke with the Police Chief, Chris McNerney. He indicated that although our crews have been doing a great job plowing the roads - the snow is coming down very heavy - 3 inches an hour. So, after our crews finish plowing the streets it gets slippery very fast.  It takes time for the crews to re-plow the road after they just left.

Most Greenburgh residents have used good judgment in staying off the roads. We have not had any major accident reports and there have been no reported outages so far.   We have not issued a local state of emergency.  And-- I have not been inundated with complaints.

A big thank you to our snow emergency first responders for doing a great job and working so hard. Hopefully, there won't be any major problems tonight and tomorrow.
