CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE TO TALK TO GREENBURGH SUPERVISOR ABOUT MAIL
Release Date: February 27, 2016

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF US POSTAL SERVICE IN WASHINGTON DC TO DISCUSS GREENBURGH MAIL SERVICE PROBLEMS WITH GREENBURGH SUPERVISOR ON THURSDAY!

During the past few years I have forwarded at least a few hundred complaints about the postal service to US Postal authorities, local postmasters and to our United States Congressional representatives. I receive some complaints from residents every few days.

Yesterday I received an e mail from David Williams, Chief Operating Officer of the United States Postal Service in Washington DC.  He requested a phone conversation with me "to discuss the Postal Service issues that residents of Greenburgh are having."  I have scheduled a call for this coming Thursday.

I am very pleased that our local mail delivery problems have received the attention of one of the highest ranking officials in the United States Postal Service  I'm hopeful that with the additional attention being given to our area that residents will start seeing some improvement.

Last week I called for Congressional hearings on the postal service  delivery problems. I pointed out that recently I received, at my own house  a bill for $2000 addressed to someone else. I opened up the envelope by mistake and than noticed that it was addressed to someone who lived over a mile away. A few days after I sent out the statement I received another letter that was intended to be sent to someone else - in another town.

I have been receiving letters from  constituents I recent months who also frequently receives  neighbors mail.  Some people are stressed because they depend on the reliable mail delivery for medicines. Most people don't have confidence that every letter addressed to them is getting to them --or that the mail they send out is going to be delivered to the right person.

Most people who have contacted me praise their own mail service carrier. They point out that the problems usually occur when the carrier is replaced with someone who is not as familiar with the route. The postal service doesn't have the funds they used to have to guarantee reliable service.
