Crane's pond looks beautiful after treatment, second water fountain
Release Date: August 24, 2016

CRANE'S POND IN EDGEMONT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL AFTER TREATMENT, SECOND WATER FOUNTAIN INSTALLED...WE WILL START TO ADDRESS POND IN FRONT OF TOWN HALL WHICH ALSO LOOKS LIKE PEA SOUP

Very pleased. Earlier this summer we received many complaints about Crane's pond. Lots of algae--the pond (which is located in Edgemont) looked like pea soup.  We recently purchased a second fountain and have been treating the pond and it looks beautiful. the treatments and the second water fountain have been working.  We will continue to monitor the conditions of the pond. At some point in the future we may have to dredge the pond which is very expensive.

We have another pond in town that looks horrible --the pond in front of Greenburgh Town Hall. That pond  looks like pea soup. I have asked the Commissioner of Parks to appropriate funds in next years budget to treat the pond so it will be more presentable.  We have a beautiful Town Hall and we want visitors to have a great impression of our community.  The cost: about $4000 a year for treatment. An application with the NY State DEC is required before the pond can be treated.

We appreciated the community suggestions from residents re: addressing pond conditions. Thank you!
