A NEW POSSIBLE LOOK IN 2017 FOR MANHATTAN AVE--TREES, ISLANDS IN MIDDLE OF ROAD TO REDUCE SPEEDING
Release Date: October 25, 2016

SEE ATTACHED DESIGN--ISLAND WITH TREES IN MIDDLE OF MANHATTAN AVE

Speeding on Manhattan Ave has been a problem.  We've been thinking about a  redesign of Manhattan Ave to reduce speeding. Another goal: to make the avenue look more like an attractive Boulevard. In 2012 our town engineers came up with the attached redesign--islands and trees in the middle of the road. Last week Sgt. Nick

Reckson of the Greenburgh police department met with the Town Board. If we create attractive landscaped islands it would reduce speeding.

The Greenburgh Housing Authority is planning to replace 30 senior affordable housing with 82 new affordable senior housing apartments on Manhattan Ave.  And, the town is currently making major repairs at the Theodore Young Community Center--an attractive new pool roof with natural lighting is being constructed. So...now is a great time to enhance the look of Manhattan Ave.
