FREE REFLECTIVE ARM BANDS TO BE GIVEN OUT ---WEAR BRIGHT CLOTHING IF YOU WALK AT NIGHT GREENBURGH POLICE ORDERING REFLECTIVE ARM BANDS--WILL GIVE TO PEDESTRIANS THEY SEE WALKING AROUND TOWN WITH DARK CLOTHING

A few months ago civic activist Murray Bodin spoke at a Greenburgh Town Board meeting and highlighted a serious problem: pedestrians walking the streets wearing dark clothing. I hadn't thought about the problem before Murray Bodin highlighted the problem. But-- now that I'm paying attention to the issue, I see pedestrians walking wearing dark clothing almost nightly. And, it's scary!

Whenever I drive around Greenburgh and other communities in Westchester I observe near accidents. Motorists can't see the pedestrians who are walking because it's dark outside.

The Town of Greenburgh will be purchasing some reflective arm bands and our police will be distributing the reflective bands to pedestrians who walk the streets in the evening. I contacted the AAA (Automobile Club) and they sent me 75 reflective bands to get started (see attached photo).  If you would like a free reflective band sent to you please e mail me your address and I'll put one in the mail. My e mail address is pfeiner@greenburghny.com.

In the meantime - tell your children, spouses, neighbors and friends to wear bright clothing when walking in the middle of the night. A few years ago a Greenburgh pedestrian lost his life in a hit and run accident at night. Let's avoid another fatality. Dress with bright clothing!

I hope that all communities in Westchester will also give this their attention.
