Yesterday I posted an advisory that excited some children who reside in Hartsdale. Santa is coming to Hartsdale. Fairview Fire Chief Howard Reiss sent me a note advising that he will also be travelling the streets of Fairview, escorted by the Fairview Fire department. Santa can't be at two places the same day so children and parents who want to see Santa twice can check both schedules. The schedule is below. UPDATE: REFLECTORS-WE RAN OUT OF REFLECTORS DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND AND ARE ORDERING MORE -- Earlier this week I posted a message advising residents that my office is distributing free reflectors. Many pedestrians walk the streets of Greenburgh wearing dark clothing--very difficult for motorists to see them. The response to this e mail was overwhelming. The Automobile Club had supplied me with 75 reflectors. More than 150 people requested them. I called the Automobile Club and they ran out of supplies for this year. The Greenburgh Police Chief, Chris McNerney is ordering reflectors for the police to give out to pedestrians they see walking without bright clothing. Once we receive the new shipment of reflectors I'll send them to everyone who hasn't received one . IN the meantime...wear bright clothing when walking during the night or carry a flashlight so cars can see you. Paul Feiner Every December the Fairview Fire Department escorts Santa Claus in his sleigh through the Fairview Fire District wishing everyone a happy holiday season. Adults and children alike are always excited to receive a candy cane from Jolly St Nick. Please help us spread the word to the community that we will be assisting Santa on December 17th and 18th and we have included the schedule below. The schedule can also be viewed at the following links: http://www.fairviewfire.org/news--events/santa-claus-is-coming-to-the-fairview-fire-district https://www.facebook.com/FairviewFire/posts/1162328927148436 Happy Holidays from the Fairview Fire Department! Respectfully, Chief Reiss There have been complaints in the past years by some motorists about being approached by firefighters for donations to a charity. The Greenburgh Firefighters Association is responding to motorists who don't want to be stopped by advising you of their plans before Friday so you could take alternate routes, if you like. OPERATION CANDY CANE...DEC 10 The Hartsdale Professional Firefighters will spread Holiday Cheer by escorting Santa Claus and his helpful and friendly elves around the Hartsdale Fire District in a Fire Engine handing out Candy Canes to all attending children & adults. Printed below is a full list of all Stops & Times and to make sure that all are at the right location awaiting Santa’s arrival, look out for our new marker signs as well. Due to the busyness of Santa’s schedule, please allow for some flexibility with our estimated arrival times. Also, due to safety concerns, we ask that all children are at the designated locations approximately 10 minutes prior to arrival times to avoid children running around and near the fire trucks. In the event of inclement weather, this event will take place on Sunday December 11, 2016.
