ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES TO START ON OCTOBER 18

VOLUNTEERS WANTED TO REMOVE INVASIVE VINES ON SAW MILL PARKWAY

Energy conservation measures will be implemented over the next several weeks in the Greenburgh Town Hall. The work is scheduled to start on or about Tuesday, October 18th. It is anticipated that work will be performed Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

The work, which is being performed by a contractor in conjunction with the New York Power Authority, will include installation of high efficiency lighting and occupancy sensors. When completed, this project will save the Town and its taxpayers an estimated $25,529 annually at 2005 electric rates (and more if rates go up).For questions on the energy efficiency details of the project, contact Nikki Coddington (993-1649).

 

VOLUNTEERS WANTED: The SawMillRivercoalition, NY State Department of Transportation and Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation invites volunteers to cut and remove invasive vines on the Saw Mill River Parkway. Meet: November 5th—Southern section, Hastingson Hudson: FarragutAvenuetrailway parking lot: Rain Date: November 6th).  9 AM to 2 PM…. Register and information: free-a-tree@hotmail.com. Call 375-2151.  Over the years I have complained about the invasive vines on the parkway and have expressed concern that these vines could contribute to falling trees. I’m very grateful to the coalition for sponsoring this initiative and looking forward to participating in this program on November 5th. Give an hour of your time to a worthy cause!
