Update: prepayment of 2018 taxes Town officials have been meeting this AM to discuss
Release Date: December 23, 2017

Many residents have called town officials relating to the Governor’s executive order authorizing the prepayment of taxes. Councilman Francis Sheehan, Greenburgh Assessor Edye McCarthy, Town Receiver of Taxes Anne Povella, the head of our MIS department Dipak Pandya, Town Comptroller Roberta Romano and I met this morning to discuss implementation. We also have been in contact with other municipal officials from around the county who are meeting this morning and have similar questions.  We spoke with Brian Hegt, Regional Administrator to Governor Cuomo who will be reaching out to others in the Executive chamber and has been helpful.  There are implementation issues that need to be worked out and we are waiting responses from the Executive Chamber.

We hope to have answers to the questions we have raised and should post instructions sometime Tuesday.  We hope to have a policy in place on or before Tuesday afternoon.  Between now and Tuesday we recommend that you consultant with your financial advisor to determine if pre payment works for your particular situation.

Many residents of Greenburgh (and the rest of NY) are stressed over the loss of the state and local tax deduction.   I would like to thank Francis, Anne, Edye, Dipak and Roberta for meeting on a moment’s notice for a few hours this morning and cancelling holiday plans they had for the weekend to work with the Governor’s office and our town team  on implementation.
