HAVE A CALL WITH CON ED LEADERSHIP AND OTHER ELECTED OFFICIALS RE: POWER OUTAGES AT 11 AM
Release Date: March 05, 2018

I will continue to press Con Ed to restore power to the FREEZING customers who still don’t have power.  Hartsdale was featured this morning on the TODAY show—the news story highlighted the frustrations many residents have that they still don’t have power.

On the positive side – the town DPW crews worked side by side with Con Ed crews all night opening up roads. They are still out. 4 roads left to be open. Today, sanitation will be slower than normal due to conditions.

Received a bunch of e mails like this—last night Con Ed called many customers saying they had power but they didn’t. If you’re in a hotel or at a friend’s house and you get a call saying you have power – you might want to double check.

Hi,

ConEd called yesterday to say there is power, but there is none. They didn’t connect to customer rep. This is for Cateson Terrace, Findlay Ave on Hartsdale. House is now at 49 Fahrenheit.

Thanks

FINALLY, THE Con Ed crews and team that have been assigned to Greenburgh  that I have interacted with are trying very hard under difficult circumstances. It’s not their fault that Con Ed is under staffed. If you see a Con Ed crew working in the freezing weather – don’t get angry at them. They are doing their best, are dedicated professionals and want the power up and running just like we all do. Some worked during dangerous weather conditions –in almost hurricane conditions. They deserve our thanks.  After the recovery  Con Ed and municipal, state and federal officials will have to re-group and figure out ways to better manage these type of weather conditions, which are becoming more frequent. The problem—Con Ed did not have the resources to quickly respond to this emergency.  I will provide another update after my conference call with Con Ed and other municipal officials.
