338 HOMES STILL OUT OF POWER.. A MESSAGE FROM OPTIMUM FOR THOSE WITHOUT CABLE
Release Date: March 10, 2018

338 HOMES IN UNINCORPORATED GREENBURG STILL OUT OF POWER...MESSAGE FROM OPTIMUM

I'm very aggravated. Thought and hoped that everyone would have their power back yesterday as Con Ed promised earlier in the week. Was wrong.  Although many residents did contact me--delighted that their power was restored sometime yesterday, others are still out.  As of 9 AM there were 338 homes in Greenburgh out of power, down from over 1000 at some points yesterday.  Last week there were over 4,000 outages.   Con Ed has not been notifying local officials from anywhere in the county what streets they are going to next. We can yell, scream, beg them to help. We can highlight hard luck stories. Sometimes they listen. They also have not always responded to some of our requests. Every municipal official I speak with from other communities has shared similar stories. And some communities are worst off --have more outages.

If you still are without power please let me know. And when power is restored - I'd welcome hearing the good news. Con Ed has lots of crews in the area working on the restoration so I am hopeful that you'll get good news today.

I HAVE ALSO BEEN IN TOUCH WITH CORPORATE OFFICIALS AT ALTICE ABOUT LACK OF CABLE SERVICE

After people get their power back up - many just want to relax, watch TV, use the internet. And--they can't. I spoke with ALTICE yesterday to highlight complaints and asked for an official statement that I could share. This is the statement that they authorized me to send out.

PAUL FEINER

“We have hundreds of Optimum workers in the field throughout Westchester and the Hudson Valley, and, in the wake of two major storms, they are working around-the-clock to restore services largely due to the widespread power outages and damage caused by downed trees.  A very small number of our customers in Greenburgh are offline (less than 4%) due primarily to the loss of power, and we are working with the power companies to get estimated timing for power restoration. For most homes and businesses, Optimum services were restored quickly following the return of commercial power.  We are coordinating closely with local authorities to ensure our crews assess damage and complete repairs as soon as conditions in the areas are safe.  We appreciate our customers’ patience during this time, and we also thank our Optimum crews as they work tirelessly to support our customers.”
