update - Edgemont attempt to incorporate as a village---proponents asking NYS Court of Appeals
Release Date: November 21, 2018

Update--Some residents of Edgemont have been attempting to incorporate Edgemont as a village. According to NYS law a petition that complies with strict statutory guidelines has to be filed with the town.  In mid October the Appellate Division of the NYS Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the petition that incorporation proponents had filed did not comply with NYS statute. As a result a referendum has not been scheduled. The Appellate Division ruling was released  in mid October.

Edgemont incorporation petitioners have announced plans to appeal that decision to the NYS Court of Appeals, the highest court in NYS. The NYS Court of Appeals does not have to hear the case. Those seeking to appeal have to obtain permission from the NYS Court of Appeals for an appeal to proceed.

Many residents of the town have asked to be kept informed. I will continue to provide residents with updates.
