IF YOU LIKE FIREWORKS YOU'LL LOVE THE EXPLOSION OF THE TZ BRIDGE SATURDAY MORNING

Please be advised that after 9:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, a section of the old Tappan Zee Bridge will be removed using explosives. 

The Thruway I-287/I-87 corridor going over the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will be closed starting around
9 a.m., for the blast to demolish the old Tappan Zee Bridge span, which is scheduled to take place around 9:30 a.m.  

Traffic leading to the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will be stopped in both directions and held for approximately 45 minutes. Detonation will occur at 9:30 a.m. 
 
Metro North has also indicated that there will be disruptions in rail service. 

Residents should plan accordingly, as severe delays are expected. You should avoid this area completely on Saturday morning. 

Depending on your location, you may hear what sounds like a single set of fireworks around 9:30 a.m.  

Pet owners are advised to keep their animals indoors.

Greenburgh villages are located along the Hudson. If you get to some of the waterfronts very early - you might be able to enjoy the show from a safe distance

 

WHERE TO SEE THE BRIDGE DEMOLITION

Scenic Park, Irvington -two miles away from the bridge.  Very limited parking.

Tarrytown: Beginning of Riverwalk (near Van Wart Ave). Accessed from Old Croton Aqueduct. Limited parking.  Pierson Park, Tarrytown. Kingsland Park Sleepy Hollow will be open. Some obstructed views.
