Link to two living history projects: the 9-11 Greenburgh stories, veterans living history
Release Date: August 29, 2019

Hear the voices of residents who witnessed history: 9-11; veterans...

Wouldn't it be fascinating if we had the ability to hear the voices of Americans who fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War or World War 1? That's not possible. But, Greenburgh wants future generations to appreciate the roles Greenburgh residents played in more recent history. About a decade ago we created a veterans living history initiative - about 150 veterans of World War and other conflicts were interviewed on public access TV. Every Memorial Day and Veterans Day weekends we play each of the interviews--each is about a half hour long.

During the past year we initiated a new initiative - the 9-11 Greenburgh stories, highlighting the experiences Greenburgh residents had on 9-11. Some of the people who have been interviewed were first responders who helped out during that tragic day. Others were at Ground Zero during the tragedy. And, some members of the community lost family and friends.

Our 9-11 Greenburgh stories can be watched by clicking on the  link below. This is an ongoing project -we will continue interviewing more residents who would like to tell their 9-11 stories. If you would like to participate in the initiative please advise. We are holding our next planning meeting on September 9th at 7 PM at Greenburgh Town Hall. E mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com if you'd like to participate.

The link to the veterans living history initiative is also below. The town will replay each of the 9-11 interviews all day on public access TV every 9-11.
