TOWN TAKING PROACTIVE MEASURES TO REDUCE FLOODING PROBLEMS
Release Date: April 13, 2007

The National Weather Service anticipates a major storm this Sunday. The town is trying to be proactive. We are clearing drains, trouble spots, catch basins, obstructions. There are about 25 locations around town that always are problem spots. Obviously, even IF we take proactive measures we won’t be able to prevent flooding when there is a major storm. However, we are trying to be proactive – to minimize problems.

I am pleased that Paula Cook, a resident of Greenburgh who has experienced significant flooding problems in the past, has agreed to serve as a volunteer Assistant Supervisor to address flooding problems. Paula will help coordinate an initiative to come up with additional short term and long term measures to address flooding around town.
