RESOLUTION TO HAVE THEODORE YOUNG COMMUNITY CENTER OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK TO BE DISCUSSED WED
Release Date: August 27, 2007

At the last meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board - members agreed to vote on a  resolution this Wednesday night that will direct the Theodore Young Community Center & its advisory board to consider opening up the pool at the center 7 days a week. In addition, I have suggested that programs be offered at the center 7 days a week. I will ask that the Board vote on the resolution, as promised, this Wednesday night - at our Town Board meeting. I want the Town Board to direct the center to prepare a 7 day  a week proposed budget and also hope to reach out to private foundations and federal state governments to see if we can obtain grants for our additdional services. My 2008 proposed budget is due at the end of October so work has to begin now.
We need to expand programs at the center and to provide young people with more activities. The pool cannot accomodate demand --there is a definite need to have the pool open 7 days a week, instead of six.   The Town Board meeting begins at 7:15 PM on Wednesday.

There will be an update on the status of the flood control study on E Hartsdale Ave. I feel very strongly that the study should commence quickly and that the engineer should be hired . We need a plan of action -- short term and long term recommendations as well as a detailed analysis of the reasons for the flood - which shut down many businesses on E Hartsdale Ave for months. Many of the stores have re-opened. However, if there is another big storm we can have a repeat incident unless we have a good plan in place.
