Two you tube video explanations: water rate infrastructure and rate hikes
Release Date: July 13, 2019

The Greenburgh Town Board, at the urging of resident Evan Levine, postponed the vote on the water district proposed rate hikes to our July 24th meeting.  We meet at 7:30 PM at Town Hall. The reason: to provide residents with more time to educate yourselves on our infrastructure plans and on the reason for the rate hikes. Even with the rate hikes Greenburgh municipal water is less expensive than water from Suez.  Parts of  the town of Greenburgh get  water from Suez.  Victor Carosi, in the following video said Greenburgh is among the least expensive water districts in the region-even with the proposed hikes.  The major reason for the proposed hike --we plan to connect the Knollwood pump station to Rumbrook. If Knollwood is out of service we need a backup. Last year NYS recognized the importance of this water supply infrastructure plan and awarded the town almost 5 million dollars to this initiative. Once the two pumping stations are linked it will allow each station to complement the other's supply capabilities, better ensure sufficient water volume and pressure during periods of peak demand and provide a continuous water supply when either station is undergoing maintenance.

In 2012 the town created a citizens committee to monitor water district rates and to address infrastructure. The committee meets frequently and meetings are open to the public. If, after you watch the following two video's and read the documents, you want to get more involved and help scrutinize our policies - we'd love to benefit from your input.  Perhaps, you would be interested in joining the water district advisory committee. We're not looking for yes people. We want our residents to help us make sure that every penny we spend is a penny that is spent wisely and efficiently.

I hope to see you on July 24th at our meeting. If you have any questions you can also call me on my cell: 438-1343 or e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.
