TOWN BOARD HIRES TRAFFIC CONSULTANT TO REVIEW PROPOSED YONKERS DEVELOPMENT
Release Date: April 10, 2013

The Greenburgh Town Board approved a resolution at our April 10th Town Board meeting authorizing the town to retain Michael Maris Associates, Inc., in respect to reviewing the Application for Austin Avenue Multi-Use Development in the City of Yonkers. Michael Maris is a traffic consultant. We will ask him to analyze the impacts the proposed Austin Ave development project will have on Greenburgh streets.
The city of Yonkers has proposed an amendment to their zoning ordinance to permit 255,000 square feet of additional retail to be built at the Austin Ave development (undeveloped land near Costco, Home Depot and Stew Leonards). They also have proposed 400 units of residential apartments at the site.
Copies of the positive declaration the town has received from the city of Yonkers for the proposed PMD zone change and Austin Ave redevelopment next to the Stu Leonard's site will be shared with residents who request copies. them. The town has not been successful in preventing previous developments on the Yonkers/Greenburgh border. However, the Ridge Hill developers agreed (as part of a settlement) to pay for $5 million in road safety improvements on Greenburgh roads near the Ridge Hill development.

The Town Board also authorized a request for proposal to review the financial control environment over court and related activities, the scope of which will be an end to end review of the functions from the initiation of an activity (issuance of a traffic ticket) through the uncontested payment of the ticket or fine or through the court disposition (e.g. payment and recording of the fine), as part of the Town Board’s desire to conduct an operational audits of other town departments to ensure best practices. We want to tighten up internal controls in all departments.
We also settled the contract with the CSEA. Employees had been working without a contract since January 1,2010. For the first time employees will start contributing to their health care contributions. A public hearing was held on the capital budget. Residents who have comments about the proposed capital budget are invited to submit written comments to the Town Board if they did not attend tonights Board meeting.
