DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THIS CLASS: Under the direction of the presiding justice, the incumbent in this class is responsible for enforcing the rules and procedures of the local court and for carrying out the directions of the court. The Court Attendant maintains decorum and order in the court room. Does related work as required.

DESIRABLE ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either (a) two (2) years of military service; or (b)two (2) years of work experience, one year of which must have been un a public law enforcement environment.
SUBSTITUTION 1: An Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or related field will substitute for the work experience cited above.
SUBSTITUTION 2: Relevant volunteer experience that has been quantified and verified may be substituted for experience requirements on a month for month basis at the rate of 140 volunteer service hours per month.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at time of appointment.
SPECIAL NOTE: 1 - Unless specifically designated in Article 2 of NY State Criminal Procedure Law, this position is NOT peace officer position, and may not carry firearms or have any other powers of peace officers specified in Section 2.20 of the NYS CPLA.
2 – This is a public officer position and all appointees must meet the requirements for public officers as specified in the Public Officers Law, including residency.

Distinguishing Features of this Class: Under the general supervision of Paramedic Supervisor or higher level personnel, incumbents of this position provides the initial first-aid treatment or emergency medical care, either through an ambulance or a non–ambulance service, at the site of the occurrence. Diagnosis the patient’s medical condition caused by either disease or injury and renders the appropriate emergency treatment to same. Treatment is performed in accordance with protocols established by New York State and the Westchester Regional Emergency Medical Service Advisory Committee. Supervision is not a requirement of the position.
General Statement of Duties: Provides initial first-aid treatment or emergency medical care at the site of an emergence occurrence; does related duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience: Possession of one of the following certificates used by the New York State Department of Health: (a) Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Certificate; (b) Emergency Medical Technician –Intermediate Certificate; (c) Emergency Medical Technician-Critical Care Certificate; (d) Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Certificate.
Special Requirements: The appointing authority is responsible for verifying and ensuring that the candidate meets the following conditions at time of appointment and throughout the course of employment: Possession of a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in the state of NY appropriate for the vehicle to be operated.

Position: 1 – Sr. Office Assistant – Recreation (0185-01)*

General Statement of Duties: Under supervision, incumbents of this class provide a wide variety of general office/clerical and financial record keeping functions of a complex nature associated with a recreation department and its programs. Maintains electronic and hard copy departmental files and records. This position requires skill in the operation of a computer using various software applications. This Senior Office Assistant – Recreation functions in a ‘office manager” role with wide latitude and responsibility for daily office operations. The incumbent must have knowledge specific to the Recreation Department and is expected to be capable of exercising independent judgement over most matters because the Superintendent and other professional staff are out of the office for extended periods of time. Incumbents of this position have considerable amount of public contact in person and over the phone. Supervision may be exercised over a small clerical staff. Does related work as required.

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience: Graduation from High School or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience where the primary function of the position was performing general office/clerical work, two (2) years of which must have included the use of computer application to maintain automated records or produce correspondence, spreadsheets, forms, reports or other documents, including or supplemented by two (2) years of experience which involved public contact.
Substitution: Satisfactory completion of 30 college credits may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two (2) years of the general office/clerical experience, and an additional 30 college credits may be substituted for one (1) year of the specialized experience using computer applications as described above. Completion of 6 credits in work processing coursework at a recognized college or university may be substituted for an additional one (1) year of specialized experience using computer application as described above. There is no substitution for the two (2) years of experience which involved public contact.

Greenburgh Police Department
Position: 1 – School Crossing Guard (0141-02) Department: Greenburgh Police Department
Job Group: CSEA Salary: $13,075 Work Week: M-F (mornings and afternoons)
Distinguishing Features of this Class: Under the general supervision of the Police Chief, the employee in this class is responsible for assisting children in crossing traffic intersections. A School Crossing Guard requires vigilance in directing and protecting children during those hours when they are entering and leaving school. This position is a part-time position one requiring the incumbent to serve at an assigned post. A School Crossing Guard is not a member of the uniformed Police Department of a municipality and does not perform police duties.
